Aromatherapy is when you use smells to improve your body and mental state. You can actually elicit specific physical and emotional reactions with an aromatic scent. This is because your sense of smell is so primal. When you smell something, a very primal space in your brain reacts without you putting a lot of thought into it.
This is why we have such strong reactions to aromas, especially if they are linked to past experiences we’ve had. Using essential oils can calm stress and anxiety.
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to affect a person's mood, emotions, and physical health. Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that have a strong aroma. These oils can be inhaled or applied to the skin.
There are many essential oils benefits of aromatherapy such as: it relaxes the mind and body, reduces stress, improves sleep quality and helps with depression symptoms. Inhaling aromatherapy can also be used for sinusitis relief and breathing ailments.
Aromatherapy has been used for centuries to promote relaxation and well-being. But does it actually offer any health benefits? Here are some studies that have been done.
One of the most trusted aromatherapy studies shows that lavender has a very powerful effect on you physically. The physical effect of lavender oil is to slow your heart rate and actually lower your blood pressure. Many massage therapists use lavender essential oils in their lotions, oils, and diffusing in their offices for the benefits of aromatherapy.
Some adult-care (senior) facilities use lavender oils and lotions to calm their dementia patients.
Another proven floral essential oil scent is geranium; it also relaxes the body in a similar way to lavender.
Another interesting aromatherapy find is that peppermint oil is quite a potent scent. Peppermint sharpens your mental focus, enabling you to concentrate and feel alert. It has stimulant properties.
In one study, kids who chewed peppermint gum while taking tests received higher scores than students who chewed any other flavor.
A fun aromatherapy scent is grapefruit essential oil, which is said to work as an appetite suppressant. One study on age perception and scent determined that men thought women who wore grapefruit essential oils were younger than when those same women were evaluated while wearing other scents.
However, you have to be careful when choosing aromatherapy products. Your body won’t have the same response to a synthetic product as an essential oil. Always choose a quality essential oil for maximum effectiveness.
For best results, buy 100% pure essential oils. For safety, it is also best before aromatherapy oils are applied to the skin, that the essential oils are mixed into lotions or base oils (aka carrier oils), such as fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil.
When it comes to relaxation and stress relief, aromatherapy is a great option. Not only does it smell wonderful, but the right scents can provide a range of health benefits.

Here are a few questions and answers related to stinnky and bad smelling essential oils:
If you've noticed that your essential oils have started to smell bad, there are a few possible explanations. One possibility is that the oil has become oxidized. This can happen when the oil is exposed to too much heat, light, or air.
Another possibility is that the oil has gone bad due to bacteria growth. This can occur if the oil isn't stored properly, if it gets contaminated, or if it's been used too many times.
Finally, it's also possible that you simply don't like the way the oil smells. Each person's sense of smell is unique, so what may smell bad to one person may smell perfectly fine to another. If you're not sure why your essential oils smell bad, try talking to a professional for more advice.
If your essential oil diffuser is giving off a bad smell, there are a few possible reasons.
By following these simple tips, you can enjoy the benefits of essential oils without having to deal with bad smells.
Patchouli oil is made by steam distilling the leaves of the Pogostemon cablin plant. While patchouli oil has a wide range of benefits, it is most commonly known for its strong, musky scent. This essential oil has a potent smell that can be overwhelming to some people. However, others find the scent to be grounding and relaxing.
If you are not a fan of the smell of patchouli oil, you can try diluting it with a carrier oil such as jojoba oil or coconut oil. You can also try using less essential oil or diffusing it for a shorter amount of time.

Many essential oils have antiviral and healing proprieties, making them a great option to use on cold sores. Let's look a little closer at cold sores and how essential oils can help.
Cold sores, also called fever blisters, are contagious blisters or sores in the mouth area, usually on the lip. They are caused by a common virus, herpes simplex virus (HSV). Here are the symptoms:
The first eruption usually lasts the longest, approximately two weeks. Subsequent flare-ups may last around one week.
Quick Tip: A quick tip to ease the tenderness and burning is to apply an ice cube to the blister and let it numb the area so you can get fast relief. You can also take a preventative approach and keep your immune system strong using echinacea tea. Here is a good immune-boosting tea with elderberry included.
When you feel that telltale tingle on your lip, it's time to bust out the essential oils for cold sores. While there is no permanent cure for these pesky blisters, certain oils can help speed up the healing process and prevent them from spreading.
Here are the top 8 cold sore essential oils:
When using essential oils as a natural remedy for cold sores, it’s important to keep in mind that essential oils are extremely concentrated plant extracts. Without proper dilution, you risk stinging or burning at the site of application. That is why it is best to dilute essential oils with a carrier oil such as coconut oil or jojoba oil. Here are my two favorite carriers to use with cold sore essential oils.
Aloe vera gel is frequently used to assist with skin conditions like sunburns, infections, injuries, and burns. It has soothing and healing properties that can ease the discomfort and speed the healing process of a cold sore. Make sure you buy the gel and NOT the jelly. Here is the brand I like to use.
Coconut oil is a popular carrier oil that contains medium-chain triglycerides. This oil is very moisturizing and soothing to lip sores. Virgin coconut oil has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that can aid in swelling reduction and improve skin healing. Here is the brand I like, it is organic and unrefined.
I find that the lovely coconut flavor makes it a perfect carrier oil to use on lips because it has a pleasant taste if a little oil gets into your mouth. It also absorbs fairly quickly which is a plus too!
Essential oils can be applied topically or inhaled. When you use essential oils on a cold sore, it is best to apply the oil blends and recipes directly to the area that has the blister or sore, commonly on the lip.

I am not going to lie, I have a HUGE collection of essential oil books, but the results from our readers were much different.
I do a lot of research for the different posts I write for the blog, so the general users probably doesn't need as many books as I have. I think it is good to have one or two essential oil reference books available, newbie or expert.
The answers from our fans revealed that over HALF said they didn't have any books on essential oils. Many said they use the internet, Pinterest, blogs (like ours!!) for their essential oil information. A few were still too new and just haven't made the investment yet.
I totally agree with what Cheryl G said "I have several that I like. No two are alike, they all offer something different!".
It is hard for me to find just one "complete" book. None are ever "complete", and if they were I surely wouldn't be able to pick it up because it would just be too big.
There are many fabulous essential oil and aromatherapy books available on the market today, especially for beginners. You can also find more specific topics like Essential Oil Recipes, Essential Oil Safety, Aromatherapy for Pregnancy, Essential Oils for Children, etc.
Nowadays it is easy for people to self publish books on all types of topics, even if they lack knowledge on the particular subject matter. These books may actually contain harmful information and suggestions.
I think it is important to carefully review any essential oil books before purchasing them.
Here are 4 questions to consider:
Look at what qualifies the author to write a book on this topic, any education received, practical or professional experience, accolades, etc.
It is best to get the most current addition available to ensure you have the most up to date recommendations and safety data.
In general, the most objective books tend to be ones not affiliated with a specific brand but there may be exceptions.
This is a good way to get a general idea of what the readers think of the book. Keep in mind that reviews from beginner users may not notice inaccuracies or potential risky information.
I like what Liz R said "I have taken out many from my local library and have compiled recipes & blends in a notebook so that I can go back to them".
That is a great idea, especially if it is financially not possible to purchase a book. Also a smart idea if you just want to see what is out there before purchasing one or if you want to compile your own notebook with recipes and oils that you like!
These are the top fan favorite essential oil books according to our readers. There were a few books mentioned that I was not familiar with and couldn't find enough information on the author so I did not include those recommendations for safety reasons.
Majority of these books I do own so I added a short snippet on each book about my personal thoughts.
To learn more about each book, just click on the picture.
This was the NUMBER ONE book mentioned by our fans (and by me!). So, if you are looking to get an essential oil reference book, this is it! It is reasonably priced, a tried and true book, and a great resource to have. I use this book the most out of my collection, you will frequently see snippets in my post from this book (especially on EO Spotlight posts). <<Buy Here >>

If you are a newbie, this is the #1 book I would recommend. This is my second favorite book in my collection. I really enjoy this book, it is very practical and laid out beautifully. I reference it frequently and it is one that I think would be helpful to new users too. If I had one complaint it is that the oils in the book are listed by their botanical name so it is slower for me to find the oil profile I am looking for (the table of contents lists them by common name so it is best to start there!). It highlights 88 essential oils and includes uses and recipes too. <<Buy Here >>

I enjoy this book too. It has 109 essential oils listed and lots of remedies to go along. I like that tips and safety facts are in the margins of the pages, they are very helpful. It doesn't have pictures or any color, I think it would be an even better book with both. <<Buy Here>>

Essential oils are now emerging as scientifically proven and accepted remedies for a variety of common conditions. The why and how certain oils heal still remains somewhat mysterious. Oils can help to treat everyday ailments, whether it be strengthening the immune system, fighting bacteria and viruses, and lowering stress levels to toning, relaxing and strengthening muscles. These oils help the body heal itself. This book features 109 oils and 450 remedies. The recipes are easy to follow, do not take a long time to make, and are quite inexpensive -- the biggest cost is the oils. The oils are organized in an A to Z format, and each entry features the botanical name, a full description of how and why the oil is extracted as well as its therapeutic uses. |

I like this book because it is different than others, Andrea not only goes over each oil but she also shares the oils in a story format (described as "expressive personality profiles") that offers a unique way to learn about the oils she highlights. It is also fun to read the oil stories to kids, they will enjoy them too! She has lots of beautiful recipes, some call for less common essential oils, so a new user may have issues with not having the oil called for. <<Buy Here>>

I recently purchased this book so I could see what it was all about. It has lots of images (I love that!) and I like the essential oil profiles that she lists, very detailed. She has lots of blend recipes but unfortunately most are master blend recipes to make 5 ml essential oil blends. So that means I have to use 100 drops to make just one blend recipe in the book. While these books didn't make the fan favorite list, these are additional books that I have in my library and find helpful.
Dropper bottles have the ability to measure out drops more precise and easier than the standard oil bottle.
Have you ever been waiting for your oil to drop out of a standard oil bottle, then suddenly the drops come pouring out? It has happened to me on more than one occasion. With glass dropper bottles you control how fast or slow the drops come out.
How about that thick essential oil, like vetiver oil? A dropper bottle can be more effective using a glass dropper to add the needed drops to your DIY essential oil recipes.
Yes, dropper bottles can be used for essential oils and aromatherapy. They are best used when making essential oil blends and recipes. Use them with essential oils and blends that you will be actively using and working with.
It is not advised to store essential oils in dropper bottles long-term. Prolonged exposure to essential oils can possibly break down the rubber in the dropper. It is also best to keep essential oil blends that you make in dropper bottles in an upright position away from heat and light.
When working with essential oils, it is best to use colored glass bottles to protect your oils and prevent deteriorating from light.
Bottle color is especially important for storing essential oils, that is why bottles of essential oils for sale come in colored bottles, usually amber but occasionally blue too.
If you are making a DIY recipe that will be used fast, the color of the container may not be such a concern because the oil will not have time to deteriorate.
Aromatherapy Recipes with Essential Oils Guide with 150+ Easy & Effective Recipe Blends by Jennifer Lane, Loving Essential Oils Owner & Certified Aromatherapist:
Here are 6 ways you can use dropper bottles to make your essential oils really shine.
Dropper bottles make using essential oils a lot simpler. You can pre-blend your carrier oils and essential oils into a dropper bottle for use during massages.
Then when you are ready to give a massage to yourself or someone else, use the prepared massage oil blend and place several drops directly on massage location or in the palm of hand first and then massage into area.
Here is an essential oil massage blend for leg cramps.
Massage on legs when cramping occurs to increase circulation and decrease discomfort.
Directions: Add drops of essential oils to 1 oz dropper bottle, fill the rest of bottle with jojoba oil. 4% dilution, use for short-term treatments only.
Have a favorite oil blend that you like to use? Create it in a dropper bottle so you will always have it on hand.
For example, I love to use frankincense, peppermint and lavender together for a variety of reason but especially when I have a headache.
Having it premade in a dropper bottle allows me to grab it when I fell one coming on. I can add a few drops to unscented lotion and apply it topically or add it to my diffuser, or even place a few drops in a warm bath with Epsom salt.
By adding equal parts of lavender, peppermint and frankincense essential oil (depending on size of batch you want). 1 oz bottle holds between 500-600 drops of oil (30 ml total). So if you want a full bottle you would use 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of each essential oil.
Directions: Add all ingredients to a dropper bottle. Place cap on and shake to blend together.
I love my roller bottles, but when it comes to applying oils to my face or around my eyes, they don't work as well.
It is easier to have the serum in a dropper bottle, place a few drops into palm and then gently apply to face. For eye serums, add a drop to finger and gently dab under eyes.
To use this DIY eye serum, gently dab around eyes before bedtime.
Directions: Add essential oils and vitamin oil to the bottle, fill the rest of bottle with rosehip oil. Place cap on and shake to blend together.
Applying body oil after a shower is a wonderful way to keep skin soft and moist, especially your arms and legs. Try adding it to your skin care routine.
Homemade body oil is also a simple way to delicately scent your skin naturally, so you can skip the harsh perfumes. Here is an oil blend to try after your next shower.
To use this easy essential oil recipe, drop some homemade body oil into the palm of your hand and rub onto desired areas, focusing special attention to areas with dry skin.
Directions: Add essential oils and vitamin E oil to the bottle, then fill rest of the bottle with fractionated coconut oil. Place cap on and shake to blend together. I like fractionated coconut oil because it is quick drying so I can get dressed shortly after :)
Dropper bottles make applying nail serums to nails and cuticles so simple. Nails take a beating every day, here is a way to give them some TLC.
You can make a homemade nail serum by using a carrier oil plus a few drops of vitamin E oil and your preferred essential oil.
Add a few drops to a cotton ball and rub over nails and cuticles, allow to air dry.
Directions: Add drops of essential oils and vitamin E oil to the bottle, then fill rest of bottle with rosehip oil. Place cap on and shake to blend together.
Glass bottles with droppers are a great way to disperse oil blends for hair and beards oils as well as scalp treatments. Place a few drops in the palm of your hands and rub together, then distribute to desired area of hair or scalp.
Apply about 1 teaspoon to scalp prior to showering, let sit for 5 minutes then wash hair and scalp normally.
Directions: Add drops of essential oils to the bottle, then fill rest of bottle with jojoba oil. Place cap on and shake to blend together.
When choosing a dropper bottle size, consider how often you will be using the essential oils and how much you typically use in each application. Smaller dropper bottles, like 5ml or 10ml, are great for travel or sampling, while larger sizes, like 30ml, are ideal for regular use at home.
No, dropper bottles can be made from different materials such as glass or plastic. Glass dropper bottles are preferred for essential oils as they do not interact with the oils and are more durable than plastic.
Yes, you can reuse dropper bottles for different essential oils after cleaning them thoroughly. Make sure to wash the dropper bottle with soap and water, then allow it to dry completely before adding a new essential oil to prevent any cross-contamination.
Yes, you can customize your dropper bottle with labels or decorations to make it easier to identify the essential oils inside. Use waterproof labels or markers to prevent smudging. Decorating your dropper bottle can also add a personal touch and make it more visually appealing.

There are car vent diffusers specifically designed so you can have your favorite scents with you while driving around town - no matter where you go. This allows you to feel refreshed after a long day of work or school!
Let's look at how you can use this device for many benefits, including mood enhancement and stress relief.
There are many benefits to using essential oils. These natural scents can improve your mood, help you relax, and even reduce anxiety. You can use them in a diffuser for your car to help stimulate you mind while driving.
A car vent diffuser is a great way to enjoy your favorite essential oils while on the go. The following are some of the ways that using an oil diffuser in your car can improve your life:
There are many essential oil diffuser for the car on the market. I have tried a few and wanted to share my experience with them.
This is what it sounds like, an essential oil diffuser that plugs into your car lighter. This was the first kind of car diffuser I tried (several years ago) and didn't really like it, it seemed a little unsafe.
The one I owned got hotter than I was comfortable with and there was no on/off or hi/low settings, it was either plugged in running or removed from lighter socket. I was also afraid to leave it plugged in when I got out of the vehicle, requiring me to make sure I didn't forget each time I got out. That got old.
This type uses the diffusion power of your car vent to disperse the oil aroma through the air. There are holes on the back side of the metal clip and inside the locket style clip is room for a circle scent pad. The scent pad holds the essential oil drops. It clips on to your car vent.
I have enjoyed this type as well. Just place one drop on a terracotta pendant and passive diffusion happens as air flows over the pendant. It is simple and doesn't take much time.
Usually it hangs from car mirror but this might not be a good idea. Some states have laws about hanging things from the rear view mirror. The pendants are usually small and do not seem to pose a risk of obstructing views but you may wish to place them elsewhere in your vehicle.
This kind uses the power of the USB port to run and usually requires water. I have not tried this version personally, seems like it could be more work than I am willing to put in.
I personally like the passive diffuser types when I am driving, less distracting to me and no mist floating in the car.
Are you wondering how to use essential oils in car? I am using an EO Car Diffuser Clip. I think it is the easiest one to implement for anyone at any level, plus it is cost friendly as well. Here is how to use it:
Get an essential oil diffuser that can clip onto vent in your vehicle. There are many designs to choose from and they come with different colored scent pads.
Decide what essential oil or oil blend you want to use on the diffuser clip. It is recommended to avoid sedative essential oils since there will be some driving going on. Peppermint or citrus essential oils work great. I like evergreen essential oils too!
Add drops to scent pad, you will need 5-8 drops of essential oils. Place scent pad into diffuser car clip and close lid.
Clip your car diffuser on to a vent in your vehicle. The diffuser clip has large holes in the back to allow air from the vent to pass through the scent pad an carry the aroma out.
Enjoy a wonderful aroma as you drive to your destination with an uplifted mood and a positive outlook! Re-scent as needed when your vehicle is parked, DO NOT DO WHILE DRIVING!
You can use any essential oil that you enjoy on car diffusers, just make sure that it isn't too relaxing, you need to be alert when driving!
Here is a list of essential oils for car diffusers:
To use these car essential oil blends, just place several drops of each essential oil to the scent pad of your car diffuser.

Yes, you can use any essential oil in your car diffuser. However, it is recommended to use high-quality, pure essential oils for the best results and to avoid damaging your diffuser. It is also a good idea to avoid essential oils that make you feel sleepy.

Yes, essential oil car diffusers are safe to use while driving as long as you follow the manufacturer's instructions and do not allow the diffuser to obstruct your view or distract you while driving.

When used properly, essential oils can be powerful and healing to the mind and body.
There are some words of caution to keep in mind. Be respectful when using oils in a yoga class setting. Loading up on peppermint oil may be stimulating to you, but it could be distracting to others around you.
You also may not want to try a new oil right before starting a yoga routine, it could turn out to be an unfavorable aroma for you. One time I used a premade blend on my wrists with an aroma that I initially loved. About 15 minutes after having it on, it was just too overpowering but I was stuck with it through the workout.
Experiment with oils to see what YOU enjoy most. Here are some ways to incorporate oils:
One easy way to enjoy aromatherapy during yoga is with an ultrasonic essential oil diffuser. I recommend diffusing citrus oils like grapefruit, tangerine, lime, lemon, or orange. These oils are uplifting yet are not too overpowering. Citrus oils also help reduce airborne microbes, especially helpful in a class setting.
Use essential oils topically on wrists, neck, or upper chest. This way you will be able to inhale them as you are going through your routine. Be sure to use properly diluted essential oils using a carrier oil. Recommended level is a 2% dilution for a healthy adult. That equals about 12 drops of essential oils per one ounce of carrier oil.
If using a roller bottle (10 ml), for a 2% dilution you only need 4 drops of essential oil, then fill the rest of the bottle with a carrier oil like jojoba oil. Roller bottles are convenient. Make one ahead of time so you are ready for a mess free application prior to your yoga routine.
One reason I love using a diffuser necklace with my essential oils is because I can keep the aroma in my personal space. While many people love using essential oils, not everyone does.
Using diffuser jewelry lets you enjoy aromatherapy effects without inconveniencing others around you. Especially great when at a yoga class, you can inhale the aroma from your necklace without offending anyone.
Add essential oils to diffuser with recommended water for your diffuser tank. Read more about diffusing essential oils. I like to use a 100-200 ml water tank diffuser but you can use whatever size you prefer.

Aromatherapy and Essential Oils Guide by Jennifer Lane, Loving Essential Oils Owner & Certified Aromatherapist:
Here are some common FAQs for white fir tree oil:
White fir essential oil is commonly used for its therapeutic properties such as providing respiratory support and reducing feelings of stress and anxiety. Additionally, it is often utilized in aromatherapy to promote relaxation and create a calming atmosphere.
When selecting an essential oil from the various fir options available:
It is important to note that Douglas Fir isn't actually a true fir.
Each of these oils has unique properties and benefits so consider carefully before making your choice. Take into account factors such as scent preference, intended use and any health concerns when deciding which one will work best for you.
The main constituents of White Fir Essential Oil primarily include pinene and bornyl acetate, which contribute to its characteristic aroma and potential therapeutic benefits. These compounds are responsible for its refreshing and uplifting scent, as well as its potential antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
White Fir Essential Oil possesses various beneficial properties, including its ability to promote relaxation and improve respiratory health. Additionally, it is known for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects.
The shelf life of White Fir Essential Oil is typically around 2 to 3 years if stored properly in a cool, dark place. However, its effectiveness and aroma might gradually diminish over time.
White Fir is a powerful essential oil that can bring about feelings of security and peace. When diffused or inhaled it has the ability to promote self confidence while also providing calmness and relaxation. Its perfect for use at home, as well as after exercise. When massaged into skin, it offers comfort both physically and mentally.
Not all essential oils are created equal. Look for essential oils that are 100% pure essential oil as this type is the only essential oils you should consider purchasing for aromatherapy & DIY recipes.
Do not be fooled by synthetic essential oils or perfume (fragrance) oils. These are NOT 100% pure essential oils and they will not deliver the benefits you're looking for.
Essential oils are highly concentrated, volatile substances that are extracted from plants. They have been used for centuries by cultures all around the world for their powerful healing properties and unique aromas. Today, essential oils are becoming increasingly popular for holistic healing, relaxation, and stress relief.
They are made from plants and flowers that have been distilled or extracted and contain compounds that are believed to have therapeutic benefits. As more and more people become aware of the many potential benefits of essential oils, it is important to understand what essential oils are, their therapeutic properties, and how to safely and effectively use them.
They can be used for a variety of purposes, from aromatherapy and massage to cleaning and purifying air.
There are different types of essential oils that can be used for different purposes. For example, lavender essential oil is known for its calming and stress-relieving effects, while tea tree oil is known for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Other types of essential oils, such as eucalyptus and peppermint, have been used to help relieve congestion and respiratory issues. With so many different types of essential oils available, it can be difficult to know which one is right for you.
However, there are some general guidelines that can help you choose the right oil for your needs.
High quality essential oils are an important part of aromatherapy, as they provide many therapeutic benefits such as reducing stress, boosting immunity, and aiding digestion. When it comes to quality oils, it is important to ensure that they are pure, unadulterated, and of the highest quality for maximum effectiveness.
Here are 3 things to know before buying essential oils:
How are you planning to use the essential oils?
- For instance, are you using the oils for personal care on your skin, for hair care, as aromatherapy oils, for lip balm? If yes to any of these, you will need 100% pure essential oils.
- Fragrance oils and perfume oils are not the same as pure essential oils, neither are flavor oils. Avoid these because they are not aromatherapy essential oils, they are for a different use. They could actually harm you if you use them in the ways listed above.
- Pure essential oils go through numerous processes to ensure best quality.
- One thing to keep in mind is that essential oils are not regulated by the FDA, so it is possible for a company to make false claims. This includes the term "therapeutic grade". There is no formally approved grading standard used consistently throughout the essential oil industry. This is why #2 is important.
What do you know about the essential oil brand you are using or are interested in using?
- Knowing how specific oils are extracted is important, as well as where they are sourced from (country of origin). The essential oil company should freely share this information. If this information is not available on the product or their website, contact the company and find this information out. The company should be able to disclose this to you if it is a quality essential oil and company.
- You also want to know the botanical names of the essential oils. For example, you can say eucalyptus oil but knowing the botanical name would tell you the exact type of eucalyptus oil, eucalyptus radiata vs eucalyptus globulus. While they are similar, there are some differences.
- If the oil company offers sourcing, extraction method as well as botanical names publicly then you will know what you are getting and there will be no surprises.
- Some companies even do testing for quality control so you can be confident in what you buy. The tests are called Gas Chromatography (GC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS).
- GC is a method of separating the volatile compounds in essential oils into individual components. MS identifies each of these components and their percentages.
Be aware of prices!
- Frequently, new users go by cost, which is not a good indicator of essential oil quality. When you buy 100% pure essential oils, the price will be higher than synthetic brands. Trust me, this is a good thing. Here’s why.
- First, they are well worth it because you know you are getting the best quality without impurities that may cause irritations or sensitivities.
- Second, when used properly, it only takes a very small amount to accomplish the task because of the potency. The more pure the essential oil, the more potent it will be.
- You will pay higher prices with MLM companies because they mark the prices up to compensate for commissions they have to pay out. The 2 most popular MLM essential oil brands are doTerra and Young Living. Both are great companies, but you may find you pay a little more with them.
To recap, if you are looking for essential oils to use for personal care, skin care, hair care and in your DIY recipes as well as aromatherapy recipes, you need 100% pure essential oils from a reputable company. The company should share with their buyers where their oils are cultivated and harvested, how they are processed and what testing has been done.
All-natural and chemical-free should be the only type of essential oil you consider. Other modifications and processing can alter the strength and the purity of the oil and you do not want to apply these toxins to your body.
1. Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts from plants, flowers, and herbs.
2. Quality essential oils should be 100% pure and free of any additives, fillers, or synthetic ingredients.
3. High-quality essential oils will have a strong aroma and not diluted with other ingredients.
4. Look for essential oils that are certified organic and are grown and harvested in the country of origin.
5. Check the label for the Latin name of the plant, as well as the country of origin.
6. Avoid essential oils that are labeled as “fragrance oils” or “perfume oils” as these are not pure essential oils.
7. Read reviews from other customers to get an idea of the quality of the essential oils.
8. Check to see if the essential oil company offers a money-back guarantee.
9. Research the company to make sure they have a good reputation and are committed to quality.
When it comes to storing essential oils, there are a few important tips to keep in mind. First, essential oils should always be stored in a cool, dark place to prevent them from degrading and becoming ineffective.
Second, essential oils should be kept in dark-colored glass containers with tight-fitting lids. This will protect the essential oils from light and air exposure, which can reduce their potency.
Lastly, essential oils should be stored away from direct sunlight and in an area with low humidity. By following these simple storage tips, you can ensure your essential oils remain effective and potent.
Safety is paramount when using essential oils. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
1. Dilute essential oils before applying them to the skin. This helps to prevent irritation and helps to spread the oil more evenly.
2. Do a patch test before applying essential oils to large areas of the body. This is especially important if you have sensitive skin.
3. Be aware of the safety concerns associated with certain essential oils. Some essential oils, such as eucalyptus, are not suitable for use on children or pregnant women. Do your research and discuss any concerns with a qualified healthcare professional.

Do you find yourself in need of some stress relief but without the ability to use an aromatherapy diffuser? Does your workplace not allow it or does it make you feel too sleepy at work? If so, try using an aromatherapy necklace.
You can wear this anywhere and when you are feeling overwhelmed with life's stresses, just take a sniff of the necklace for instant relaxation. Here is how to use a diffuser necklace:
There are many types of essential oil necklaces, in this post we are focusing on scent pad types of diffuser necklaces. They have a felt/wool cut out that fits into the necklace locket, it's what holds the essential oils. Some other types include lava stones or terracotta pendants.
You can use a single essential oil or an essential oil blend. In this post we give you 50 ideas on single essential oils you can try for various purposes, see the chart below for options. You can pick more than one at a time. I love to experiment with essential oil combinations.
Add 2-5 drops to scent pad, depending on oil and how strong of an aroma you want. Just drop directly on one side of the pad and place the scent pad back into necklace locket.
Now you can enjoy an aromatherapy session throughout your day. Usually once I place my diffuser necklace on, I do not take it off until bedtime. But if you feel you need a break from the aroma during the day, you can easily take it off.
When I want a strong whiff of the aroma, I just bring the necklace pendant to my nose and deeply inhale. Simple & lovely!
Here are 10 ways that essential oils can support your wellness, along with essential oil options to use for each. If you do not have one oil, no problem, there are always other essential oils to try.
That is one thing I love about oils, their versatility and ability to aid in so many ways.

It is also important to keep an open mind because when blending essential oils there is a wonderful thing called synergy that happens that can lead to something beautiful!
Let's explore lavender and mixing essential oils a little more before we get into what blends well with lavender essential oil.
A synergy essential oil blend is two or more essential oils working together for a greater benefit then the total of their individual effects. Kinda magical right ;)
When blending essential oils together, each oil can have an enhancing effect on the other oils in the blend. You get more bang for your buck, so to speak.
We have to look at the different types of lavender oil to make sure that we are on the same page. There are three main types available on the marketplace, this is where the botanical names really help you know what you are buying.
True Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a floral and herbal aroma. For this post, we are referencing this type of lavender. It is the most common in aromatherapy and its versatility is truly amazing.
Spike Lavender (Lavandula latifolia) has a high percentage of 1,8- Cineole and Camphor which is why the aroma is reminiscent of Eucalyptus and Ravensara.
Lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia) is a hybrid of them both True Lavender and Spike Lavender and will have elements from both oils.

There are a variety of essential oils that can be blended with lavender oil to create a unique and therapeutic aroma. Some of the most popular essential oils to blend with lavender oil include: rosemary, grapefruit, tea tree, jasmine, ylang ylang, ginger, sandalwood, cinnamon, clove, myrrh, neroli, clary sage, lemon, lime, and more.
Creating your own lavender essential oil blends can be a great way to customize your aromatherapy experience and create something unique that is tailored to your individual needs. Before you begin blending your essential oils, it is important to choose a base oil. This will help to dilute the essential oils and make them easier to work with.
To ensure that your lavender oil lasts as long as possible, it is important to store it in an airtight container, away from any direct sunlight or heat. This will help preserve the oil's natural aroma and therapeutic properties.
You can also extend the shelf life of your essential oils by storing them in a cool, dark place. This will prevent the essential oils from degrading due to exposure to light and heat.
Furthermore, it is important to store essential oils away from any sources of heat, such as direct sunlight, radiators, and any other heat sources. This is because heat can cause the oils to break down and lose their potency, making them less effective.
Additionally, heat can cause the oils to evaporate quickly, meaning you will have to use more of the oil to achieve the same effect. This not only leads to a waste of the product, but it also means that you will have to replace the oils more often. This can be a hassle, as well as an added expense.
The answer to this question depends on a few factors, such as the type of lavender oil blend, the storage conditions, and the ingredients used in the blend. For example, if you are using a pure lavender essential oil, it can last up to two years when stored in a cool, dark place.
The best essential oil combinations to use with lavender oil depend on the desired effect. Lavender oil is known for its calming and soothing properties, so it is often used in blends to promote relaxation and a sense of well-being.
Bergamot Essential Oil: Bergamot essential oil is a perfect companion to lavender for a happy blend due to its uplifting and refreshing properties. Together, they create an aroma that promotes relaxation and a sense of well-being.
