How to Use Essential Oil for Motivation

Inhaling certain scents can give you an energy boost and get you moving. Here are some of the best ways to use essential oils for motivation.

Diffuse Oils

One easy way to enjoy motivational essential oils is with an essential oil diffuser. Try diffusing any of the single oils in the list above. See what works for you and what aroma inspires you. I have also included some diffuser blends below for you to try.

Apply Oils to Skin

Use essential oils on wrists, neck, shoulders, or upper chest topically. This way, you can inhale them as you go about your day. Be sure to use properly diluted essential oils with a carrier oil.

The recommended level is a 2% dilution for a healthy adult. That equals about 12 drops of essential oils per one ounce of carrier oil.

If using a 10 ml roller bottle, for a 2% dilution you only need 4 drops of essential oil. For a 5% dilution, you only need 10 drops of essential oil. Add EOs and top the bottle off with a carrier oil like jojoba oil.

Roller bottles are convenient and easy to make. Check out our motivated roll-on recipe below.

Wear an Essential Oil Necklace

While many people love using essential oils, not everyone does. An essential oil diffuser necklace allows me to keep the aroma in my personal space, which is only one reason I love essential oil jewelry.

  1. Lemon and Peppermint: This mix provides a refreshing and invigorating aroma that can help enhance focus and energy.

  2. Orange and Rosemary: Orange offers a cheerful, mood-lifting scent, while rosemary helps improve concentration and mental clarity.

  3. Grapefruit and Basil: The bright and zesty grapefruit pairs well with basil’s herbaceous note to stimulate the mind and promote alertness.

  4. Bergamot and Clary Sage: Bergamot supports positivity and emotional balance, while Clary Sage encourages a sense of calm focus, perfect for a motivational push.

These combinations can be used in a diffuser or diluted in a carrier oil for topical application. Always consider personal sensitivities and consult with a certified aromatherapist if unsure.

How can I use essential oils at work for motivation?

Using essential oils at work can be a great way to enhance motivation and productivity. Here are some practical methods you could try:

  1. Diffusing: Use an essential oil diffuser at your workspace. Choose energizing oils like lemon, rosemary, or peppermint to keep you alert and focused throughout the day. Adjust the intensity according to your preference and office environment.

  2. Roll-On Blends: Create or purchase an essential oil roll-on blend. You can apply it to your wrists or temples for a quick motivational boost. Use uplifting blends that combine oils like citrus and mint for quick energy.

  3. Inhalers: Prepare personal inhalers with your chosen essential oil blends. When your concentration is waning, inhale deeply for a burst of motivation.

  5. Personal Care Products: Use lotions, creams, or hand washes infused with essential oils at work to enjoy a subtle aroma all day long, helping maintain focus and positivity.

Always ensure the oils are safe to use in shared spaces and check for any sensitivities among colleagues. Start with milder concentrations, especially in an office setting, to ensure the experience is pleasant for everyone involved.
