To make a fall essential oil cleaning spray, add 15 drops of orange, 15 drops of cinnamon leaf and 5 drops of clove essential oil to an 8 oz glass spray bottle with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 3/4 cup of distilled water, then shake before each use. It's my Fall Breeze recipe, and it makes everyday wipe-downs smell like a cozy autumn kitchen. Below you'll find why I love these three oils, the recipe and a few safety tips. Jump to the recipe.

A Cozy Cleaning Spray for Fall
This spray is great for quick wipe-downs in the kitchen, bathroom or office: counters, sinks, appliance fronts, faucets, doors and doorknobs. For light switches and electronics, spray your cloth instead of the surface, then wipe.
Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil
Cinnamon leaf (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) has a warm, spicy scent that instantly says fall. I use cinnamon leaf rather than cinnamon bark in cleaners. The bark oil is much harsher on skin, and since your hands touch these surfaces, leaf oil is the kinder choice.
Clove Essential Oil
Clove (Eugenia caryophyllata) adds a rich, spicy depth to the blend. It's strong, so a few drops go a long way. It's also one of the classic oils people have traditionally reached for when freshening a home.
Orange Essential Oil
Sweet or wild orange (Citrus sinensis) brightens up the spices and keeps the spray from smelling heavy. Like other citrus oils, it helps cut through light grease and sticky spots.

Fall Breeze Cleaning Spray Recipe
Use around: Kids 6+ once dry (contains cinnamon and clove)
- 15 drops sweet or wild orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis)
- 15 drops cinnamon leaf essential oil (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)
- 5 drops clove essential oil (Eugenia caryophyllata)
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 3/4 cup distilled water
- 8 oz glass spray bottle
Method:
- Add the essential oils and vinegar to the spray bottle, then fill with the distilled water.
- Screw on the spray top, shake well and add a label.
- To use, shake well, spray the surface and wipe clean with a microfiber cloth. Use within 2 to 3 weeks.
Fall Breeze safety tips
- Cinnamon and clove can irritate skin. Wear gloves if your hands are sensitive, and don't use this spray on skin.
- Keep vinegar sprays off granite, marble and other natural stone, and test painted or finished surfaces first.
- Let surfaces dry before kids and pets touch them, and keep pets out of the room while you clean.
- Label the bottle and store it out of reach of children and pets. Never ingest essential oils.
