We all get bumps and bruises. While bruises are ugly and uncomfortable, they are a natural result of when the tissues take a direct blow to the area. Thankfully there are some essential oils for bruising that can help this healing process along.
It is best to ice the area that took the blow first if able. It will help with the pain and swelling that occurs in the area of trauma. Then you can follow up with essential oils before the bruise even appears.
This process may even be enough to avoid a bruise completely, but it really depends on the severity of bump or blow.
Roller Blends for Bruising
Have you ever had a bruise just appear without remembering how it happened? I know I have, no worries if you can't follow the above process. Just use essential oils on the area as soon as you notice it, be sure to dilute the oils before application. Roller blend bottles work great for applying to skin.
I like to use roller blends for bruises because they are easy to make, grab, and roll onto the injured skin. I like to apply it about 2-3 times a day until the bruise fades and the discomfort is gone.
The next time you bump your arm against the door handle (I just did this...ouch) or bang you knee on the coffee table, try using one or more of these oils to eliminate the bruise quicker.

5. Myrrh Essential Oil
- Commiphora myrrha, Caution with pregnancy/lactation
- Common ingredient in skincare salves & balms for its deeply skin healing properties. It has astringent and anti-inflammatory actions that assist to lessen bruising.
6. Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
- Anthemis nobilis /Chamaemelum nobile, OK for Kids 2+

Trauma Oil For Bruising
The most helpful carrier oil to use for bruising and tissue injuries is trauma oil. Wondering what trauma oil is? It is a blend of three nourishing herbs that are usually infused into olive oil. It is a blend of Calendula flower, Arnica flower and St. John's Wort flowering tops.
