Essential Oil Blends for the New Year
I am excited to share some of my favorite blends with you!
If you haven't yet, I invite you to incorporate one new essential oil experience into your life each day. It doesn't have to take long, only a few minutes. If each day you take a step or two forward in your essential oil journey, you will see the amazing results in your life.
Here are some ways to help you incorporate essential oils in a bigger way into your life in 2020. These recipes don't take long to make so don't procrastinate about creating them.
1. Better Sleep
It's no secret, sleep quality can effect your health and wellness. Getting enough restful sleep every night is a must for overall health. During sleep, the body is able to repair cells and tissues, boost the immune system, relieve the mind of stressors, restore strength and energy, and regulates hormones.
Essential oils can assist with insomnia. Many popular essential oils have relaxing and sedative properties that have been known to address common causes for insomnia.
Try this blend before bedtime to relieve stress and nervous tension.
Best Sleep Massage Blend
- 7 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 5 drops Vetiver Essential Oil
- 3 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
- 3 drops Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
- 3 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil
- 2 oz Jojoba Oil
- 2 oz Glass Pump Bottle
Directions: Add all ingredients into the pump bottle. Place pump top on and shake to blend. Use a few pumps of massage oil every night. You can apply to your chest, neck, arms, and/or feet. Inhale the beautiful aroma as you drift off to sleep.
2. Positive Mindset
A positive mindset is key to overall success when it comes to health and wellness.
As the years' pass, they seem to go faster and faster. Let this blend allow you to take a moment to appreciate where you are right now and to think positive thoughts about where your path is leading you.
This is the Day! Inhaler
- 4 drops Bergamot
- 4 drops Orange
- 4 drops Juniper
- 3 drops Cardamom
- Blank Inhaler
Directions: Add essential oils onto the cotton wick, place the wick into the inhaler. To use, bring inhaler under nasal passages and take a deep breathe in.
3. Stress Less
One favorite use for essential oils is their ability to calm the mind and body. Powerhouse oils like lavender essential oil and frankincense essential oil have long been go-to aromatherapy oils for stress. Try this recipe to help maintain your :
Stress-Free Lotion Blend
- 4 drops Lavender
- 4 drops Magnolia
- 4 drops Frankincense
- 1 oz Unscented Lotion
- 1 oz Glass Jar
Directions: Add unscented lotion to the jar, then drop in essential oils, stir to blend. To use, just rub on to desired skin for a tension taming experience.
4. Cleaner Home
I find that a clean space just makes me feel better and allows me to focus more on the tasks at hand. Having a cleaner environment can be easily obtained with essential oils.
Winter brings all kinds of germs and aliments your way, wipe down frequently touched items and surfaces with this cleaning spray.
Lavender & Lemon Cleaning Spray
- 20 drops Lavender
- 20 drops Lemon
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- Distilled Water
- 8 oz Spray Bottle
Directions: Add essential oils and vinegar to the spray bottle, fill the rest of bottle with distilled water. Place sprayer top on and shake to blend. Spray on a microfiber cloth and wipe down household surfaces let air dry. Be sure to shake before each use, best if used within 1 month.
5. Greater Energy
Whether you need the energy to start a new exercise routine, or just to get through your work day, try energizing essential oils. Some favorites include grapefruit and white fir. Here is a positively excellent roll-on recipe to try.
Positively Energized Roller Blend
- 3 drops Grapefruit
- 2 drops White Fir (aka Silver Fir)
- 2 drops Cypress
- 1 drops Lemongrass
- Jojoba Oil
- 10 ml Roller Bottle
Directions: Add essential oils to the roll on bottle and fill the rest of the bottle with jojoba oil. Add on rollerball top, then roll between palms to mix blend together.
6. Detox Your Body
Every day the body eliminates waste through the skin. Potent plant oils can help with this detoxification process.
I like to add detoxifying essential oils to a warm foot bath with Epsom salt. The combination of heat, oils, and Epsom salt help with the process as well as relaxation, soreness, and aches.
Detox Foot Bath
- 2 drops Lemon Oil
- 2 drops Juniper Berry
- 2 drops Frankincense
- 1 teaspoon Fractionated Coconut Oil (or carrier oil of choice)
- Epsom Salt
Directions: Mix ingredients together, then add to a foot basin or large bowl with hot water (make sure the temperature is not too hot, you want to be able to immerse your feet).
