10 Natural Essential Oil Foaming Body Wash Recipes You Will Love
Foaming soaps and body washes are a great way to use essential oils everyday. In this post you will learn how to make a basic essential oil body wash, plus I will share 10 essential oil blends you can use to naturally scent your foaming body wash recipes with.
This is a favorite diy recipe that I use and it is a staple in my daily essential oil routine.
Benefits of Essential Oil Body Wash
Foaming wash is really a wonderful body cleanser because it requires no rubbing in, the foam glides onto skin easily and leaves skin scented with essential oils.
What I love about this recipe is that it makes a small batch in a mini foaming bottle. The small size allows me a few great benefits:
- The mini size can be used within 1-2 weeks so I can keep my recipe fresh and free of contaminants.
- I like the small batch because then I can try another recipe blend. It's a fun way to try new oil scents and blends.
- It helps me keep my daily routine positive and uplifting, something to look forward to when trying to roll out of bed in the mornings.
- It's an all natural and low cost option. No need to buy costly store or spa cleansing products.
- Doesn't take up much space, so if you have a small shower, this recipe is ideal.
Below I share my favorite essential oil blend that I call Sweet Awakenings with grapefruit and fennel essential oil. It is one I like to start my day off with in the shower and WOW I just love it. Once you smell it, you will understand why.
Foaming Body Wash Ingredients
The ingredients that make up this recipe are ingredients that I like to always have available, especial when making DIY Essential Oil Recipes. Recipe includes:
- Castile Soap makes a perfect natural skin cleanser and is the base for homemade foaming soaps and body washes.
- A Foaming Bottle is required for this recipe. It is amazing how much foam can be created with foaming bottles, very cost effective.
- Vegetable glycerin to help moisturize skin, it also makes the foam come out of the pump better too.
- Witch Hazel (instead of water) for additional skin care benefits, its a great astringent agent. Read more here.
- Essential Oils to add an all natural aroma as well as additional aromatherapy and skincare benefits.

General Essential Oil Safety Precautions
Never use essential oils undiluted, in eyes or mucous membranes. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified practitioner. Keep out of reach from children.
Avoid using any essential oil that has oxidized due to a greater risk of skin sensitization.
Use essential oils with extreme caution on children, be sure you have researched the oil and that it is safe for use on kids. Plant Therapy clearly labels their oils "KidSafe" on the bottle if the oil can be used for children ages 2–10.
If applying an essential oil topically (on your skin), you may perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body, use 1-2 drops in a teaspoon of carrier oil like jojoba oil, read more here.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, epileptic, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. For more information on oil safety issues here.
