Toothache Home Remedy Using Essential Oils

Home remedies are not just for emergency situations, they can be used on a daily basis to care for the teeth. All you need are a few ingredients which can help prevent or relieve a toothache. The best natural ingredients are clove essential oil and peppermint essential oil.

Clove Oil For Toothache:

Clove oil is one of the most effective essential oils. It is a super strong antioxidant. In the past, people have used this oil to cope with their toothache. It is a powerful remedy as it has certain antibacterial properties and thus, it can stop the growth of bacteria in the mouth. Plus, it is an effective natural disinfectant.

Clove oil also contains eugenol that is made up of antiseptic and analgesic properties. Clove oil produces a numbing effect that can ease discomfort and tooth pain.

Clove oil is known to be one of the best remedies for a toothache by many scientists all over the globe. Apart from the clove oil, you can also chew on a dried clove bud, which is also an effective toothache home remedy.

Peppermint Oil For Toothache:

Peppermint oil is another effective essential oil which is used by many people in order to treat a toothache. This oil is also an effective toothache home remedy from dental carries. It reduces the soreness of the teeth and the inflammation as well.

When a toothache continues for a long time, it can causes a headache. Peppermint oil is extremely useful to help a toothache but also the headache caused by the toothache.

Similar to the clove oil method, simply dip a cotton swab in peppermint oil or get a drop on your fingertip and apply it onto the affected area. This oil works beautifully as it soothes and numbs the tooth area in a few minutes.  You can mix 1 drop of peppermint oil with a dab of coconut oil if you prefer to dilute first before applying.

Apart from the peppermint oil, you can also take peppermint leaves along with lukewarm water to eliminate the signs of a toothache and the headache caused by the toothache.

When you are applying these essential oils to treat the toothaches, remember that you have to cover the tooth properly as well as the gum area. Only use pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. If irritation occurs, you should discontinue use.
