What Is An Essential Oil Diffuser?

Posted by Jennifer Lane on

What is an essential oil diffuser?  Essential oil diffusers are very popular with aromatherapy and essential oil users. They are an effective way to experience the health and wellness benefits of essential oils. Diffusers are a way to get oils into the air so aromatherapy benefits can be enjoyed.

What Is An Essential Oil Diffuser

How Essential Oil Diffusers Work:

Diffusers get essential oils into the air by breaking the oils down into micro molecules and then disperses them into the air. These micro molecules are then inhaled, going into the respiratory system and ultimately get into the bloodstream. Many positive effects are received for the body, mind and mood throughout this process.

While there are many ways to "diffuse" essential oils into the air, the main type of diffuser many people enjoy today are ultrasonic diffusers. For the most part, they are cheap, easy to use and also humidify the air. Humidification adds moisture to the air, a great way  to eliminate dryness. Can help with dry chapped skin, chapped lips and dry sinuses.

Ultrasonic diffusers use ultrasonic waves and water to diffuse oils. This creates a fine mist of oil and water released into the air. The benefits  can then be enjoyed by everyone in the vacinity of the diffuser. Click here to view our blog post on essential oil diffuser benefits.

Here are my favorite ultrasonic diffuser, they are reasonably priced and the companies stand behind there products:

Basic Instructions for using an ultrasonic diffuser:

Use clean tap water that is room temperature to fill the water tank of the diffuser. Most will have a fill line or a measuring cup, refer to your diffuser manual for recommended water amount your diffuser requires. *Do not overfill or your diffuser may not run properly.

Next, add 5-10 drops of essential oils to water. Close the diffuser and turn on. You can use any essential oil or oil blend, it really just depends on what effects you are looking for.
